Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia Announces Arrests of Life Insurance Agent and Her Husband After a Nearly $382,000 Insurance Fraud Scheme

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Today, Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia announced the arrests of life insurance agent Christine Ann Nunzio and her husband, Phillip Salvatore Nunzio, after a nearly $382,000 insurance fraud scheme. The arrest was made by the Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations Division (CID) when fraudulent life insurance policies were obtained by submitting false census records, employment information, life insurance enrollments, and claims.

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said, “My office has been relentless in catching criminals that drive up costs for policyholders. Insurance fraud doesn’t just impact insurance companies, but comes at the expense of every honest, hard-working Floridian. I want to thank my investigators for putting a stop to the Nunzios’ schemes and ensuring that their next date night will be in court.”

CID investigators uncovered that both suspects allegedly used their construction company to generate fraudulent life insurance claims for non-employees and four deceased individuals. Non-employees included family members, such as Mrs. Nunzio’s father-in-law, who had no previous employment history at the company. In total,

they stole $381,849.

Christine Ann Nunzio was arrested on June 26, 2026. She has been charged with organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, insurance fraud, violation of the Florida Money Laundering Act, and criminal use of deceased personal ID information. 

Phillip Salvatore Nunzio was arrested on June 26, 2026. He has been charged with organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, insurance fraud, violation of the Florida Money Laundering Act, and criminal use of deceased personal ID information.
