VIN Cloning Continues to be a Growing Trend

NICB Special Agent David Renaud talks about how car thieves are taking the vehicle identification number, or VIN, of your car and placing it on a stolen vehicle for resale.

If you're buying a car and you're worried it might be stolen, you can go to the National Insurance Crime Bureau's website to run an online VIN check. The website offers a free service that tells you if a vehicle has been reported as stolen. The website is www.nicb.org.
