BOSTON — A Connecticut man was arrested Thursday morning in connection to a Boston street takeover during October in which a police cruiser was ignited and destroyed.
David Antonio Moran, 19, of Norwalk, also known as David Moran-Chavez, was arrested on a warrant for charges of burning a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of fireworks, disturbing the peace and conspiracy. His arrest came after two others were taken into custody during the incident.
Moran-Chavez is expected to appear in court in Connecticut and will be charged as a fugitive from justice, police said.
Boston police said they responded at 2:12 a.m. on Oct. 5 to the large-scale takeover at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Tremont Street.
Officers saw more than 100 people attacking marked Boston police cruisers, throwing "fireworks, cones, poles and other objects," police said. Several cars were also blocking the intersection and preventing the flow of traffic.
One police cruiser had extensive damage after it was hit multiple times with fireworks, resulting in smoke and fire inside the car. Police said members of the crowd also jumped onto the hood of the cruiser.
The Boston Fire Department worked to put out the flames on the cruiser, which was ultimately destroyed, according to police. Continue article
