Slidell physician sentenced in health care fraud, opioid distribution case

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell physician who was convicted of health care fraud and conspiring to illegally distribute more than 1 million doses of opioids has been sentenced.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that 59-year-old Adrian Dexter Talbot was sentenced to more than seven years in prison on Wednesday, Feb. 6, after he was convicted by a jury in July 2024.

Court documents state that Talbot owned Medex Clinical Consultants, which reportedly accepted cash payments from people seeking prescriptions for controlled substances.
