Medical Equipment
The NICB was alerted by NICB Member Companies that a durable medical equipment provider based in Nevada, may have been providing durable medical equipment to claimants in Illinois-based insurance claims since 2018 and submitting billing to NICB Member Companies without first obtaining an Illinois Home Medical Equipment license. NICB Member companies additionally reported indicators of fraud that would indicate possible instances of inflated billing and billing for equipment not provided may have been occurring. In March, the prosecution division of the IDFPR ruled that the provider had been operating in Illinois and in violation since 2018. The pending application for a Home Medical Equipment license filed on behalf of the provider in December of 2021 was denied and no future applications for a Home Medical Equipment license filed on the behalf of the provider will be considered.
