Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force officers recover stolen vehicle, arrest suspect in possession of burglary tools and vehicle keys

SANTA FE, Texas — Authorities in Galveston County successfully recovered a stolen vehicle in Lake Jackson, leading to the arrest of a suspect involved in the theft. The incident unfolded on February 1, 2025, when the Galveston County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 18000 block of Highway 6.

The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force assisted in the investigation, which culminated in the vehicle's recovery and the arrest of the suspect during a traffic stop, according to a press release from the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was found in possession of burglary tools, stolen license plates, vehicle keys, and ski masks. The individual was transported to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, with a bond set at $30,000. Additional warrants for Burglary of a Building and Theft between $2,500 and $30,000, each with a $15,000 bond, will be filed by the task force.

The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional entity funded by the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority, continues to investigate the incident. The task force includes participants from various law enforcement agencies and conducts criminal investigations and crime prevention programs.
